Yoga For Grief Relief

This is an awesome outlet to offer people who need to grieve in different ways. Such a great idea.

– Participant

Grief is ever present in our lives both individually and collectively. We experience loss of all kinds, whether it be of a loved one, a job, a pet, a relationship, aspects of ourselves or dreams we once had.
We invite you to join us to find relief in your grief through the act of yoga.

Yoga for Grief Relief takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at My Studios.

This is a free program in partnership with My Studios and Kieran Nadeau.

Benefits of our Yoga for Grief Relief

Calms the mind

One of the aims of yoga is to stop the constant churning of thoughts in the mind. Mindfulness and meditation are taught as strategies to understand the mind and promote calm and clarity.

Relieves muscular tension

The gentle movement, stretching and strengthening, combined with breathing helps to relieve tension and promote relaxation.

Coping with different emotions

Practical strategies to cope with difficult emotions combined with education about grief create understanding and compassion around your experience.

Proper breathing techniques

The breath is often deeply impacted by grief. The gentle movements, self-awareness and concentration of a yoga practice promote full, relaxed and nurturing breathing patterns.

Dedicated Time for Grief and Mourning

Yoga for grief support gives you dedicated time and space for your grief; an act of self-care, and a personal mourning ritual
